Everyone Falls for Lovable ‘Monkey’ Saved After 5 Days Stuck High in the Treetops

A lovable Flame Point Siamese named Monkey, earned his name when he stayed 35 feet up in the treetops for five days! Although cats will often come back down on their own, sometimes, they just can’t. Then, it’s often up to courageous rescuers without a fear of heights to intervene. And they can be very hard to find.

How Monkey lived in that huge Maple tree in Illinois without food or water for five days is a mystery. But, miraculously, he did, until a brave rescuer named Brad arrived with a ladder and brave determination.

Hero Climbs to Save ‘Monkey’

Brad climbed the tree with a cloth bag to put the frightened kitty in. Things could easily have gone sideways, in every sense of the word. But against all odds, Monkey went in the sack and stayed there for the harrowing descent to the ground.

“In rescue, you can see the worst in people. Last night, we saw the best in them. This beautiful Flame Point Siamese, who we are calling Monkey, was 35’ up in a tree for 5 days. Rescuer Brad got a 30’ ladder and a cloth bag with a rope, and up he went,” shared Purrfect Cat Rescue Inc. “Today, he is our hero.”

Monkey Quickly Charms Everyone

Safe on the ground, the rescuers took Monkey to the ER to recover. After such a long time, he needed to slowly take in nourishment. As we’ve shared before, malnourished cats can have “Refeeding Syndrome.” If a cat has been without food for a long time, feeding too much at a time could even be deadly since a cat’s metabolism has slowed down so much.

But Monkey wasted no time in recovering or in charming everyone he met!

Monkey’s Quick Recovery

Ameowzingly, Monkey fully recovered after a few days of excellent care in the ER. They gave him “many days and nights of honey treatments and bandage changes,” and he responded to treatment wonderfully.

And even though the rescuers had just met him, they missed him and were excited to care for him again.

“…He is doing so great and says keep the prayers and good thoughts coming! We are hoping to have him out of the ER tomorrow afternoon and back with us,” they said.

After lots of good thoughts and prayers, he was back at the rescue and was a very chatty boy!

“Is it Monkey bread or a Monkey loaf? Either way… he’s doing fabulous!”

During his time at the Crystal Lake, IL rescue, he charmed one of the volunteers who was healing from a broken heart. It was she who fell for the cat saved from the treetops.

“When you were well enough, we finished updating your medical, and it was your time to shine,” the rescue shared. “His new mom is one of our volunteers who very recently lost her kitty and has a broken heart. She fell for this sweet, beautiful boy. Nothing but better days ahead for them both! Thank you for giving him the forever home he deserves!❤️🏠❤️
