Jennifer Lopez is reportedly “heartbroken” over her decision to divorce Ben Af
fleck.
The 55 year old pop sensation officially filed for divorce on Tuesday, August 20, at a Los Angeles County Superior Court, following months of speculation, reports the Mirror US. A source close to the star told People Magazine that she was ready to “move on” after spending most of the summer apart from her husband amid swirling divorce rumours.
The insider revealed to the publication: “She tried really hard to make things work and is heartbroken,” before adding: “The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.”
During Jennifer’s first marriage to singer Marc Anthony, the couple welcomed 16 year old twins Max and Emme. From Ben’s first marriage to actress Jennifer Garner, the former couple have three children together – their 18 year old daughter Violet, 12 year old son Samuel, and 17 year old son Fin.
Since rekindling their romance, the pair have become a blended family, taking on step-parent roles for each other’s children.

However after a rocky few months the couple have officially decided to part ways. A source close to Jennifer Lopez has revealed that the star was tired of waiting for Ben Affleck to make an effort to save their marriage and is now ready to “move on”.
The insider told People: “She’s very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage.”
The news of Jennifer’s divorce filing comes after she was recently spotted at Ben’s home during his 52nd birthday celebrations last week. The Hustlers actress joined Ben and his children for a low-key celebration at his residence.
Ben’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, was also present as they continue to co-parent their children. The same source told People: “It’s exactly what he wanted. He didn’t want to go out to celebrate. The kids had gifts for him, and it was cute. Jennifer [Lopez] stopped by to congratulate him.”
However, despite the family gathering, Jennifer proceeded with the divorce filing just a week later.
