‘I just saw the movie Just Mercy, the film about Bryan Stevenson’s book starring Jamie Foxx & Michael B Jordan. wow I cried!!!’ wrote the 38-year-old.
‘I know it doesn’t come out until January but you all have to see this!!! It’s a true glimpse into the injustice that still happens today.’

Michael B. Jordan stars as Bryan Stevenson, the attorney who defended Walter McMillian, who is played by Jamie Foxx.
McMillan, a black Alabama pulpwood worker, spent six years on death row for murder before a court decided he was wrongfully convicted and released him.
Kardashian used the example of Just Mercy to segue into a defense of Rodney Reed, who is scheduled to be executed in Texas on November 20.
‘After watching the movie I opened up my computer & opened up my email about a case I had recently been investigating, @FreeRodneyReed. I have been hearing about him and his story for the last week. On Nov. 20, Texas will execute Rodney Reed. I believe he is innocent,’ she wrote.

Tagging the Governor of Texas, she added: ‘PLEASE @GovAbbott How can you execute a man when since his trial, substantial evidence that would exonerate Rodney Reed has come forward and even implicates the other person of interest. I URGE YOU TO DO THE RIGHT THING.’
Reed, who is black, was convicted of kidnapping, raping and strangling 19-year-old Stacey Stites, who was white, in Texas in 1996.
He has continuously insisted he is innocent, as has Stites’ family, who suspect her former police officer fiance Jimmy Lewis Fennell Jr. of the crime.

Fennell served a 10-year sentence for raping a woman while on duty, and his victim has also spoken out in defense of Reed.
Reed, who maintains he was having a consensual affair with Stites at the time of her death, was convicted on the basis of his DNA having been found on her.
He had been accused but not convicted in multiple other sexual assault cases and a DNA sample collected in one of them was a match for the sperm found in Stites.

Three expert witnesses whose testimony helped secure Reed’s conviction have since admitted errors in their original statements, as seen in documents obtained by the Innocence Project.
Kardashian, who is now aspiring to become a lawyer, drew a great deal of attention last year for visiting the Trump White House and successfully advocating to secure a pardon for Alice Marie Johnson.
Johnson, a great-grandmother, had served more than 20 years in prison for a nonviolent drug offense before being released in June 2018.
