A horrific shooting unfolded in the heart of New York City, where a gunman armed with an assault rifle killed four people, including a police officer, before taking his own life.
Security camera footage shared online showed the suspect wearing a sport coat and button-down shirt, carrying a large rifle near an office building in Midtown Manhattan, which houses the headquarters of Blackstone asset management and the NFL, on Monday.
The suspect was identified as Shane Tamura, 27, from Las Vegas, according to law enforcement sources.

According to CNN, Tamura had a silencer on his weapon when he opened fire in the building’s lobby around 6:30 p.m., with approximately 30 people present. Officer Didarul Islam, working private security at the time, was shot in the back and killed. Three others were injured, with their conditions currently unclear.
The suspect was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the 33rd floor of the building, where Blackstone has its headquarters.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch posted an update on X, stating that the “lone shooter has been neutralized” and the scene is “contained.”
Videos circulating online showed officers in protective gear, with guns drawn, entering the building at 365 Park Avenue. Another video from Fox 5 captured officers carrying a victim while others attended to a person lying on the ground.

EMS First posted a tribute to Officer Islam on Instagram: “Tonight, a chair at the dinner table is left empty. A family grieves a loss beyond measure. A hero made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Remember his name. Honor his service. Never forget his face.”
According to AMNY, two individuals, a man and a woman, were taken into custody at the scene. The woman had a cut on her head, and the man allegedly shouted, “Free Palestine, I’m not the shooter.”
Tamura was a former high school football player. Sources told NBC News that investigators are exploring whether he may have been targeting the NFL offices.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said agents are responding at the scene. New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James expressed concern and offered prayers for the victims. New York City Mayor Eric Adams arrived at the scene and said he would visit the hospital.
